My name is Alana Decker and my art name is A. Decker. I'm a proud black female Canadian, residing in Cambridge, Ontario, born from British and Jamaican parents. I'm a wife, mother of 4 children, artist and a survivor of domestic violence.

I've always had a love for art and fashion, but I was truly inspired to showcase my talent to the world during the beginning of this COVID19 pandemic. I realized how therapeutic painting and drawing felt, it has now become a daily routine.

Alana’s Art

My work is inspired by my heritage, my perception of beauty, strength, love, happiness and music. I love combining my art with quotes, affirmations and poetry. The amalgamation between mental health awareness and my art pieces are incredibly important to me. This is my way of being my authentic self and also a representation of my healing journey. Different mediums allow me to fully express my creativity. I do favour using acrylic paints and spray paint as I have a lot of love for graffiti/street art.

I always say “Art brings me happiness, what doesn’t make sense with spoken words, forms clarity when my paint brush touches the canvas.
